Is your dog a good citizen? If not, don't worry! This is how we will help you get him there! This class is designed to help your dog become better mannered so that you will feel more comfortable with his or her behavior around other people, other dogs, other anything!
This class prepares people and their dogs for the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test. This non-competitive test is 10 parts and proofs a dog’s ability to accept a friendly stranger, walk on a loose leash and come when called, among other skills. Dogs who pass the test earn a certificate and/or the official AKC CGC title. The test is optional and is not included in this course, so no pressure, just come and train!
Over the course of six weeks, we’ll focus on skills that are the foundation of the test. This includes exercises such as stays, recalls and basic manners. The test will be offered by appointment but is optional (test fee is $35 per team). Even if you don’t take the test, you’ll have fun helping your dog become an even better canine citizen! Many of our students have no desire to take the test, but the subject matter is of great interest to everyone.
