Here is a letter that Gabe's Mom sent
to It's Pawsible
"Dear Beth,
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to my
questions. I have not had a lot of experience at raising a
dog. The books are a help, but too general. And family and
friends all have their own opinions. To tell you the
truth, I was getting confused.
I just want to tell you how much I appreciate the
efforts you have taken to help me be a good Mom for Gabe.
Taking a dog to classes is one thing, but training them is
another. I know this because I took Gabe to two 6 week
obedience sessions at another training center during his
first year. I still cringe when I think of that woman
yanking my dog off his feet with the leash and telling me
I had to do this to stop him from pulling! I get better
results with your methods of praise than the way I was
taught to work with him. You have made such a difference
in my life with Gabe, and the confidence, fun and freedom
I have felt since you took us to the hospital grounds for
our first outing is un-measurable.
Training is more about life style, the "whole package".
The neutering (thanks for not giving up!), food, attitude,
body language, and praise! Caring about the dog's total
life is what makes the difference between someone who "has
training classes" and a "trainer".
