Puppy Pawsibilities! Group Class
For
dogs age 9 weeks to 20 weeks. This is an excellent time to
start training. At this age your puppy is learning whether
you are intentionally teaching him or not. Don't miss this
opportunity to learn how to begin teaching some manners,
socialize your puppy to other puppies and other people,
get him used to being handled plus other topics like
nutrition, preventing aggression, and responding to basic
obedience commands. Registration for this class includes a
free day at our PAWSible! Day Camp!
This is a four week class and the group
size is limited to ten (10) puppies.

Basic Obedience Group Class
For
dogs age 10 weeks to adult. This class is more structured
and all the basic commands are taught and strengthened
through distractions. The class is well managed and
comfortable. Rather than having everyone standing up
during the class, the human students are sitting in
chairs. We instruct everyone to bring dog beds for their
dogs. When it's time to practice an execise, the class
stands up and practices near their chairs. The dogs learn
that their dog beds are a rewarding place to be, too, so
this is a practical lesson that can be taken anywhere.
Class size is limited to twelve dogs and each class has
two instructors so we can give plenty of personalized
attention to each student. Our focus in this class is to
train you how to train your dog and use praise, body
postures, voice and food correctly to do this. The
exercises taught are selected for practical use--not just
redundant obedience exercises. On week six, you get a
sampling of Agility. This is a six week class. (If you
enroll in a Basic Class within 1 month of your puppy
class, you will receive a $25.00 discount on the Basic
Obedience class session.)
Will basic obedience help your shy dog grow into
a confident adult?

Intermediate and Advanced Obedience
Classes
We have a selection of more advanced classes following the
beginner classes. All of the following classes have a
pre-requisite of Basic Obedience at It's PAWSible!. In
some cases the Puppy class at It's PAWSible! is a suitable
pre-requisite.

"Rapid Recall" Class
This
is a four week class that focuses on only the "recall" or
getting your dog to come to you when you call. Often times
we spoil our dog's recall reliability without even knowing
it. Sometimes we have dogs that just need more training.
Whatever the case, you and your dog will LOVE this class.
It's a very motivating class and it starts out very easy
and then gets more difficult. The key is that all of the
dogs and owners practice some very simple exercises and
the increased distractions are hardly noticed by the dog!
Everyone loves this class!

The "Variety" Class
This is a six week class that has a little of
everything--agility, obedience, tricks and manners. It has
become a favorite with our clients and it's also a great
warm-up to the agility classes. You will be pleasantly
tired after this class each night! There's a lot to it.

The "Intermediate Obedience" Class
This is a six week class that focuses on
intermediate obedience exercises usually taught for
competition obedience. However, we teach them for fun!

The "Canine Good Citzen" Class
This
is a six week class that focuses on all of the 10 tests
that are used in the American Kennel Club's (AKC) Canine
Good Citizen (CGC) test. This test is offered in many
different clubs and training centers and we offer it one
or two times a year here as well. This is basically a
manners class that teaches the dog and the handler how to
work through the distractions of other people and other
dogs. Friendly, calm greetings, steady down stays and
recalls through distractions are all put to the test. The
CGC test offers a great format for training.

The "Walk with Me" Class
This is a four week class that works on walking
politely on leash. Teaching a dog to walk without pulling
is a long process if you do not want to use leash "Jerks"
as corrections. However it is well worth the time and
commitment if you want to teach your dog not to pull.

Obedience Level II
This is a six week class that is an option after
any obedience class at It's PAWSible! Typically we planned
it to follow Puppy Pawsibilities or the Basic Obedience
Class. It works on exercises taught in the beginner
classes but adds more distractions and verbal commands to
those exercises. This class also covers basic manners.

either for fun or for competition. We have a page

Behavior Consultations
For
the dog owner who feels their dog would not do well in
group classes. This private session lasts 90 minutes and
it is sometimes a pre-requisite to a group class. If a dog
has aggressive tendencies towards people or other dogs, it
is a requirement that we meet one-on-one first. Then I can
evaluate your dog's ability to work in a group. This
ensures safety for all and also a win-win situation for
those people who have aggressive dogs. Putting a dog who
is not socialized or friendly towards others into a group
situation does not help the dog at all. In fact, it can
make things worse. Handlers need to know how to work with
their dogs first. Many training centers will just allow
any dogs into classes and if the dog has problems with the
other dogs or people, the trainer will tell the owners to
jerk on their dog's leash if they act inappropriately.
Beware! This will make your problems worse. There are more
respectful ways to work with your dog. Your relationship
with your dog should be based on MUTUAL RESPECT and TRUST.
My goal is to be able to get all dogs into a group
situation, but if that is not possible, we can continue
with private lessons if we need and/or you want to.
I also do behavioral consults for other problems like
housebreaking, excessive chewing, our just overall
difficulty with training or attention.
