Trixie (and Ann Peereboom)

When my husband and I went looking for our first dog together he really wanted a boxer as he had grown up with boxers and I agreed.
I had always wanted to try agility with a dog so I thought boxers might be good at agility as they seemed to have boundless energy, they are great jumpers and are pretty athletic dogs all around. So we looked around and found Trixie (or did she find us?)
I immediately called Beth at It's PAWSible! and told her that I had an eight week old boxer and I really wanted to do agility with her. But, most of all, I was determined to have a well trained dog that I could do agility with and Beth and Wayne were very supportive in this endeavor.
Thank goodness for that determination and support because it took a whole lot of training and patience to get to the point where I could start competing with Trixie. Our competition years were so much fun even though Trixie was tough to motivate at times. I really had to work hard. But, despite it all I definitely became addicted to the sport of agility.
Trixie really had her following of fans as she was often very comical on course. She liked to make up her own courses at times and also loved to visit. She was very curious about everything on course and even the Judge was so interesting at times!
I retired Trixie from her agility career in May of 2006. Before retiring, Trixie earned her Open titles in Standard and Jumpers with Weaves in AKC and was just one Qualifying score away from earning her Excellent title in AKC. She also earned her Open title in the Regular class and Novice titles in Tunnelers, Touch N- Go, Gamblers and Jumpers in NADAC. I am so happy that I took the time to train her right and I cherish those memories!
