Magnolia (1997-2005) (and Pam
Skinner)

Magnolia
(Maggs for short) was a beautiful, personable lab-cross,
adopted from the MSPCA in 1999. We stopped by to check out
It’s PAWSible literally on the way home from the shelter (she
hadn’t even seen her new home yet) and were impressed with the
beautiful facility. We started with basic obedience a few
weeks after that, took several other obedience-oriented
classes over the following months, and both became addicted to
agility at first exposure.
If asked, I know Maggs would have said that agility was high
on her list of fun things to do, right up there with eating,
sleeping, swimming, and chasing her aerobie. We hadn’t
intended to compete in agility, but finally slid down that
slippery slope in 2003. Maggs won her NADAC Novice Regular
Agility Title in June 2004. After a diagnosis of
hemangiosarcoma in fall 2004, she retired from agility and
spent the following months enjoying long walks, steak tidbits,
and couch privileges. She succumbed to the disease in spring
2005, and her family still misses her keenly.
