Casey (and Pam Skinner)
Casey, all-American rescue, was adopted from the Dakin Animal Shelter
in 2001. Three-years old at adoption, she arrived with an odd mix of “attitude” and insecurity.
She started basic obedience at It's PAWSible! shortly after adoption,
took a couple of other courses, and then embarked on beginning agility.
It was a long, slow road for her, but with lots of patience from the
instructors, she gained confidence with the obstacles, with her own
skills, and with the whole agility environment.
Casey ventured out to one trial in 2004 and got through one full
course—but in slow motion. After a winter of more work, she aced her
next two trials, winning four qualifying scores and a Level 1 Fun Games
title in CPE in April 2005 (in one day) and her NADAC Novice Regular
Agility title in June 2005 (in one weekend). She continues to bring
home multiple qualifiers per trial and currently competes at Levels 3 and 4 in
CPE. She also competes at the open level in NADAC and in everything
from beginner to specialist in DOCNA, depending on the class.
Casey resides in Goshen with canine pals Fiona and Ginger and her two
humans, where she enjoys long walks in the woods, and snowshoe treks
in the winter. Agility has given Casey a fun "job”. It's not an exaggeration
to say that agility has changed Casey’s world.
